Economic Focus | Tianjin Port promotes the construction of a smart and green hub port: improving shipping efficiency and promoting coordinated development

  Core reading

In recent years, Tianjin Port has continuously promoted the full-automatic transformation of the terminal and built a smart and green hub port. By adopting green energy and carrying out green transportation mode, some container terminal loading and unloading operations realize zero carbon emission in the whole process. With the further development of the advantages of the hub and the continuous optimization of the customs clearance process, the radiation-driven capacity of Tianjin Port has been continuously enhanced, helping the high-quality economic development.

The huge ship full of goods easily stops under the command of unattended tower bridge; At the container terminal on the shore, more than 70 unmanned intelligent transport robots can walk freely; Eight-lane 42 automatic track bridges are lined up and run quickly … … This is a scene that the reporter recently overlooked from the command platform more than 10 meters high at the intelligent container terminal in Section C of Beijiang Port Area of Tianjin Port.

On January 17, 2019, when General Secretary of the Supreme Leader visited Tianjin Port, he emphasized that the economy should develop, the country should be strong, and transportation, especially shipping, should be strengthened first. We should aim at Wan Li, strive to build a world-class smart port and a green port, and better serve the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei and jointly build the Belt and Road Initiative.

In the past three years, Tianjin Port Group has been pioneering and innovating in accordance with the general secretary’s painting, striving to build a smart and green hub port, and handed over a bright report card: in 2021, the annual container throughput of Tianjin Port exceeded 20 million TEUs, and the growth rate maintained the top ten ports in the world; In 2008, the combined transportation volume of sea and rail exceeded 1 million TEUs, ranking the top three in China; In October 2021, the world’s first smart zero-carbon terminal — — Terminal C of Beijiang Port Area was officially put into operation.

Innovating process scheme to realize full automation transformation of traditional wharf

Push forward, move sideways, fine-tune, lock, locate and release … … In Tianjin Port Automation Remote Control Center, Feng Xu, a remote control driver, keeps an eye on the ultra-high-definition video transmitted back through the 5G network on the screen, skillfully and accurately controls the joystick in his hand to load and unload containers for trucks 1 km away. In just 75 seconds, a container was loaded and unloaded. "In the past, it was completely manual on-site operation, and it took at least 5 minutes. There are still certain security risks." Chen Pei, head of the technical department of Tianjin Port Second Container Terminal Company, said.

"On the traditional container terminal, regardless of the hot winter and summer, drivers have to board the shore bridge with a height of tens of meters and bow their heads for a long time. Now, after automation transformation, it is much easier to remotely control the equipment while sitting in the office. " Feng Xu said.

The Terminal C in Beijiang Port Area of Tianjin Port is a "5G+ Smart Port" project jointly built by Tianjin Port Group, Huawei and China Mobile, which is inseparable from the hard work of Tianjin Port technical team.

The full-automatic transformation of traditional docks is a worldwide problem. The existing automatic wharves at home and abroad adopt the magnetic nail technology route perpendicular to the coastline, which is suitable for new wharves. It is too expensive to apply it to the automatic transformation of traditional wharves. The technical team of Tianjin Port has designed a brand-new technological scheme of "single trolley automatic quay crane+unmanned electric truck+double cantilever automatic track crane", which provides a high-quality solution for the automatic transformation of traditional docks.

Compared with the magnetic nail technology route, the new scheme has little modification to the existing wharf layout, low cost, nearly 15% improvement in operation efficiency and 20% reduction in energy consumption per container. The intelligent tally of containers achieves full coverage, and the accuracy of one-time identification of car numbers and container numbers exceeds 95%.

"Last year, the proportion of large-scale automated container handling equipment in Tianjin Port reached 35%, and it will reach more than 60% this year and more than 80% next year." Chu Bin, Chairman of Tianjin Port Group, introduced.

Promote green transportation and increase the development and construction of green energy.

Standing on the commanding platform, outside the busy colorful wharf and the 10,000-ton ship berthed one after another, two huge windmills with a height of 188.5 meters rotate leisurely, transmitting a steady stream of clean electric energy for the wharf … …

"As of 7: 00 pm on March 17, a total of 5.295 million kWh was generated, exceeding the electricity consumption of the terminal by 586,000 kWh." Qian Feng, the person in charge of Tianjin Port’s distributed power grid-connected project and deputy general manager of State Grid Binhai Power Company, introduced that the smart green energy system of Terminal C in Beijiang Port Area, which was successfully connected to the grid at the end of last year, is the first smart green energy project of "integration of scenery, storage and load" in China’s ports. "It has achieved 100% independent supply of green electricity and zero carbon emission in the whole process. Two 4.5 MW wind turbines and a photovoltaic system with a total installed capacity of 1.43 MW are connected to the grid, creating a green power supply system for the C-section terminal, saving about 7,340 tons of standard coal every year and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 20,000 tons. "

Not only that, in recent years, Tianjin Port has actively adjusted its transportation structure, promoted the green transportation mode of "fully loaded and fully loaded" for ore and coal, and built a dual demonstration port of "highway to railway+bulk cargo to container". Yan Bin introduced that as an important coal launching port in northern China, today’s Tianjin Port Coal Terminal has realized coal railway transportation, which has greatly reduced the exhaust emissions and dust pollution of transportation vehicles.

In January this year, a clean energy horizontal transport fleet consisting of 75 electric intelligent horizontal transport robots, 31 unmanned electric trucks, 50 electric trucks and 30 hydrogen fuel cell trucks was put into production and operation in Tianjin Port. Compared with the fuel truck with the same capacity, the fuel consumption and carbon emission of a single machine are reduced by 50 kg and 155 kg per 100 km. When the fleet runs for one month, it reduces fuel consumption by 279 tons and carbon emissions by 865 tons, achieving zero carbon emissions in the whole process of terminal loading and unloading operation at Section C of Beijiang Port Area.

During the Tenth Five-Year Plan period, Tianjin Port will also vigorously promote the construction of zero-carbon port areas and zero-carbon ports, increase the development and construction of green energy, and focus on promoting the construction of centralized wind power on breakwaters and distributed wind power and photovoltaic power generation systems in the port areas. It is estimated that the installed capacity of green energy will be increased by nearly 500 MW.

Integrate into coordinated development to ensure the stability of industrial chain supply chain

As the maritime gateway to Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and the Three North Areas, Tianjin Port is the nearest seaport to xiong’an new area and an important node of the Belt and Road Initiative. Tianjin Port puts development in the overall situation of coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, comprehensively enhances the radiation-driven capacity and helps the inland hinterland economy to develop with high quality.

On March 4th, a batch of building emulsion produced in Foshan, Guangdong Province was transferred to Huanghua Port, Hebei Province via Tianjin Port. As the container was unloaded from the ship, Zhang Yizhu, the flight manager of Foshan Speedway Logistics Co., Ltd., finally landed: "In the case of land transportation being affected, thanks to the Tianjin Port’s inner branch line around the Bohai Sea, the efficiency was improved and the cost was reduced." Zhang Yizhu’s goods take the sea-side collection and distribution service channel, and the transit transportation of goods is completed by sea. "This channel relies on ‘ Everyday class ’ Ships can provide round-trip services to Tianjin — Huanghua, Tianjin — Caofeidian and Tianjin — Jingtang and Tianjin — Qinhuangdao’s sea passage provides a choice for customers affected by land transportation. " Xie Shushan, development manager of transit market of Tianjin Port Co., Ltd. introduced.

In 2020, Tianjin Port opened the "Daily Class" of the inner branch line around Bohai Sea, which reduced the sea freight and port-related fees, and set up a green channel at sea for enterprises to resume work and production. After that, the voyage increased from two to three times a day, and the monthly flight volume reached about 150 times at peak hours. Last year, the traffic volume of feeder lines around Bohai Sea increased by more than 30% year-on-year, driving the transit throughput to increase by more than 30% year-on-year, ensuring the stability of the hinterland industrial chain supply chain.

Based on the advantages of the "Belt and Road" important node, at present, the number of container routes between Tianjin Port and the national ports along the "Belt and Road" has increased from more than 30 in 2019 to more than 50, and it has trade with more than 800 ports in more than 200 countries and regions around the world, of which more than 60% are traded with ports along the "Belt and Road".

With the support of port units, Tianjin Port strives to optimize the customs clearance process, and vigorously promotes the construction of a single window for port container business and Tianjin’s "smart platform for closing ports and collecting and distributing ports". At present, the shortest time for importing containers in Tianjin Port is only 1.5 hours, and export goods can be loaded and exported when they arrive at the port, which effectively improves the operation efficiency and reduces the logistics cost of import and export enterprises.

The tide is vast, and it is just the right time to forge ahead. Towards the goal of building a world-class smart green hub port, Tianjin Port is struggling to climb.
