    At the age of 18, Wang Yongcheng overcame many difficulties and gradually became the chief physician of medical massage for the blind. He held a training course on blind massage, founded the Fujian Strait Blind Massage Guidance Center, and trained more than 6,000 blind masseurs free of charge, driving more blind people onto the road of self-reliance.

    After being elected as the representative of the 14th National People’s Congress, Wang Yongcheng has been receiving demands from friends with disabilities from all over the country. He carefully recorded and conducted in-depth research, formed representative suggestions, and actively spoke for this group.

    At last year’s National People’s Congress, Wang Yongcheng, as the only representative of the blind in the NPC, submitted four suggestions on issues such as employment, education and barrier-free environment construction for the blind, one of which was about publishing large-sized textbooks for students with low vision in regular classes.

    In June last year, he was invited to attend the the National People’s Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC) Conference, and his proposal to compile and publish teaching books in Braille and low vision for different educational stages was adopted in the legislative process of the barrier-free environment construction law.

    In November last year, the Working Committee of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC), together with four representatives from the Ministry of Education, National Health Commission, China State Railway Group Co.,Ltd. and China Disabled Persons’ Federation, suggested the organizer to send staff to Fuzhou to deliver the Braille version of the representative’s suggestion reply made for the first time in the work of NPC deputies.

    The Braille version of the conference documents was produced by the Braille Translation Group first established by the Secretariat of the National People’s Congress this year. This group is composed of the backbone personnel sent by China Disabled Persons’ Federation and compiled and printed by China Braille Publishing House, including 3 blind braille experts.

    "The two sessions produced the Braille version of the conference documents for the first time, which provided a better guarantee for the blind representatives to perform their duties." Wo Shuping, editor-in-chief of China Braille Publishing House, told reporters that in December last year, she officially received the task of producing Braille documents for the conference, and she felt that her mission was glorious and significant. This new measure is not only an active practice of the barrier-free environment construction law, which came into effect on September 1 last year, but also a vivid embodiment of the people’s democracy in the whole process.

    "In the braille translation work, we closely communicated with Wang Yongcheng, understood the needs, adjusted the production plan in time, and finally determined the format of the conference document in Braille." Yin Menglan, a member of the group and an expert in Braille for the blind, introduced that the Braille version of the conference documents transformed complex charts such as bar charts and line charts into specific and clear graphic texts; A folio form was made to facilitate cross-checking; The documents with more contents are presented in volumes for easy reading and carrying.
